Die Rolls Its Own Number
A single die sits in the center of the empty parcheesi board. Its edges catch the light from the window. Without hands to shake it, the die turns over three times and stops on six. The other dice in the box rattle once in reply, then fall silent. The board waits for the next player who never arrives.
