Frayed Cuff Keeps Its Shape

The shirt cuff frays where the wrist turns each day. Threads pull loose from the weave after years of reaching for cups and keys and door handles. The button stays attached though the hole has widened around it. Morning after morning the arm goes through the sleeve without pause or thought. The cloth holds its shape around the habit that wears it thin. No one notices until the edge catches on something sharp.
