Swing Set Lowers After Dark

The green swing set stands alone in the yard after dark. Its chains stretch downward like taffy pulled too long until the wooden seat rests on the lawn. From somewhere inside the metal frame comes the faint sound of a child counting to ten each number followed by the soft creak of an empty seat swinging back and forth once before everything returns to its original height.
