Trousers Take One Step

The blue trousers stand up from the laundry pile without warning. Each leg straightens on its own, seams aligned perfectly. They take one slow step toward the door before the knees buckle. The fabric crumples into the same heap. A pocket lining shows bright yellow where it turned inside out.
